Ian Usher has developed an exclusive process, using a combination of glazes layered onto the initial image, to produce a work of art that is both a photograph and a painting. His interest is in capturing unrehearsed moments in our lives - and by doing so, he questions our perception of reality, revealing a previously hidden dimension. This gives his work both a sense of immediacy, and a semi-abstract quality. What may appear to be a random effect, is a carefully planned process combining many different procedures to create the finished piece of art. These are individual pieces of artwork, and the unique composition of each is unrepeatable. |
